Our range of services is expanded to include services in the electronic publishing sector. This makes us one of the pioneers in the industry. Within a short time, our self-developed DAD delivery system for e-books is established, which is connected to all relevant channels. With this innovative, excellent service, we have been able to convince and win over numerous new customers within just a few years. We are continuously expanding this area.
2008
The introduction of a media asset management system (SaaS) marks an important milestone for efficient e-publishing in the digital age. Since then, all content data can be held digitally and structured with metadata in a central location in our secure system. This system now forms the basis for all digital delivery.
Also in 2008, our data center moves to our new partner CircIT in Düsseldorf.
2003
A new era dawns for the hgv with the establishment of the Customer and Financial Service Center (trade publishers). Rowohlt and S.Fischer are the first publishers to come on board. Right from the start, we impress booksellers with our multiple award-winning service (best ordering service, "Golden Palette" from Amazon) and create real added value by bundling attractive publishers in a single package. Renowned publishers such as Campus and Diogenes are being added on an ongoing basis.
In the same year, we expand our product portfolio to include production and purchasing services. Through the merger with bookworXs GmbH, we establish a web-based print procurement system for publishers. Further cooperations with Macmillan's sister companies in India and Hong Kong follow. We are thus establishing an international service network in the areas of prepress as well as purchasing and production.
2000
The hgv realigns itself for the first time. Our in-house developed publishing software is replaced by a new, modern system and the IT infrastructure is outsourced to a Siemens data center. We provide consulting and support for the new publishing software.
1989
hgv, Hanseatische Gesellschaft für Verlagsservice, is founded as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group. Our first employees come from the spin-off of the IT department of Rowohlt Verlag. The tasks are operation and maintenance of our self-developed publishing software in our own data center. This enables us to open up to third-party customers outside the Holtzbrinck publishing group.
